A practical antenna upgrade for your 868 MHz Meshtastic node! The RAK WisMesh Blade is a black, omnidirectional LoRa antenna for the 863–870 MHz frequency range.
The antenna has 50 Ω impedance and a stated gain of 2.8 dBi. The Type 2 version comes with an RP-SMA to SMA adapter, so it can be connected to a node with a standard SMA female connector.
The antenna can be used with WisBlock and other LoRa nodes, provided the frequency and connector are compatible. Boards with U.FL/IPEX antenna connectors require a suitable pigtail cable. Range depends on location, terrain, and radio settings.
The 2.8 dBi gain is the antenna's maximum gain across the frequency band. At exactly 868 MHz, the manufacturer's measurement table specifies 2.5 dBi and an efficiency of 83.3%. The antenna is passive and does not require a separate power supply. Mount it as vertically as possible and away from large metal surfaces. With the SMA adapter, the total length is approximately 215 mm.
