Check the module’s supply and output voltage against the controller’s input limits before connecting it. A 5V supply does not make the signal safe for a 3.3V GPIO or ADC; use suitable level/voltage conversion. Analogue signals require an ADC, which a standard Raspberry Pi computer does not include.
Detect touch from people or animals easily with this touch sensor. Its built-in comparator helps you get started immediately!
Our bodies naturally accumulate electrical charge—sometimes enough to give someone a small static shock. This sensor uses the body's electrical influence to detect touch. A transistor at its tip has an exposed base connection. Touching it supplies a small signal that switches the transistor and activates the sensor circuit.
The touch sensor detects the body's electrical influence through an exposed transistor-base connection. Touching this connection activates the transistor and sensor circuit.
Connect other metal surfaces directly to the base connection to create touch-sensitive door handles or other metallic parts.
- An analogue output lets the sensor be read directly by a microcontroller
- A built-in LM393 comparator automatically switches the digital output when the sensor level exceeds the threshold set with the potentiometer
An easy way to add touch detection to your projects.
