Add regulated power and charging to a suitable 18650 lithium cell with this battery shield.

The 18650 Lithium Battery Shield combines a holder for a suitable cell with charging and power-management functions for portable electronics.


Its functions include:

  • Built-in battery protection against overcharging and overdischarging,
  • A Micro USB charging input,
  • A USB Type-A output for powering a compatible device or electronic components, 
  • A button to enable or disable the USB port.


The module includes DC/DC conversion with listed 3V/1A and 5V/2A outputs. Connections along the PCB edges can supply compatible microcontrollers and sensors. During charging, a red LED indicates charging and a green LED indicates completion. Observe the combined thermal and power limits rather than assuming both maximum outputs are simultaneously available.

Insert the battery with the correct polarity, following the PCB markings. Reverse insertion can destroy the charging chip.
