Check the module’s supply and output voltage against the controller’s input limits before connecting it. A 5V supply does not make the signal safe for a 3.3V GPIO or ADC; use suitable level/voltage conversion. Analogue signals require an ADC, which a standard Raspberry Pi computer does not include.
KY-018 photoresistor module for measuring relative light levels in a room
This light sensor is built around a photoresistor, also called an LDR (light-dependent resistor). Its resistance changes when exposed to light.
An LDR in series with an ordinary resistor forms a voltage dividerwhose output voltage changes with the amount of light reaching the sensor. This module uses a 10kΩ resistor in series with the LDR.
Simply power the + and − pins and measure the voltage on the signal pin.
