MAX6675 K-type Thermocouple Module
The MAX6675 module provides a digital interface for a compatible K-type thermocouple probe. Together, the module and a suitable probe can measure temperatures for monitoring projects. Select the module or probe variant required; the probe's own temperature rating limits the usable range.
The MAX6675 is a cold-junction-compensated K-type thermocouple digitiser originally from Maxim, now Analog Devices. It converts the measured temperature to digital data available through a serial SPI-compatible interface. Its resolution is 0.25°C; resolution is not the same as measurement accuracy.
To integrate this component into a project, see the guide from The Curious Scientist

Technical specifications
| Specification | Value |
| Operating voltage | 3.0V to 5.5V |
| Interface | High-Speed SPI |
| Power consumption | 700µA (typical), 1.5mA (maximum) |
| Temperature range | 0°C–1023.75°C encoded range (MAX6675 IC) 0°C–80°C (listed probe rating; confirm suitability before high-temperature use) |
| Accuracy | Converter thermocouple error is up to ±2°C from 0–700°C under datasheet conditions; probe and installation add further error. |
| Resolution | 12-bit (0,25°C) |
| Conversion time | ~170 ms |
| Thermocouple type | Type-K |
| Probe length | Approx. 45cm (18 inches) |
| Probe material |
Positive conductor: Chromel (nickel-chromium alloy, red terminal) Negative conductor: Alumel (nickel-aluminium alloy, blue terminal) |
| Insulation (probe) | Fibreglass |
| Connection (probe) | M6 thread (can be screwed into a suitable mounting point such as a heatsink) |
What is included?
- 1x MAX6675 K-Type Thermocouple Module
Or
- 1x K-type thermocouple probe
Note: Use only within the temperature limits of the selected probe, insulation and mounting arrangement. The converter's range does not establish the probe's safe operating temperature.
