KY-037 high-sensitivity sound sensor for quiet sounds

KY-037 provides an analogue microphone output (AO) and a digital threshold output (DO). The potentiometer sets the DO threshold; it does not calibrate sound pressure in dB. Supply voltage is not the same as a safe GPIO level: check AO and DO before connection to a 3.3V ADC/GPIO and use voltage or level conversion as needed. Raspberry Pi computers require an external ADC for AO.

KY-037 Sound Sensor / LM393 Electret Microphone Module

A compact, efficient sound sensor for quiet environments!

This compact sound sensor suits quiet environments. Use it to monitor sound levels or create a clap-operated light switch. Its built-in electret microphone and LM393 comparator make it straightforward to integrate into sound projects. It is suitable for sound sensing with microcontrollersand a wide range of sound-measurement projects.

This sensor has a smaller sibling suited to loud sounds.

The module is easy to use and offers these features:

  • Built-in 8mm electret microphone with extra-high sensitivity
  • Analogue output lets a microcontroller read the sensor directly
  • A built-in LM393 comparator automatically switches the digital output when the sensor level exceeds the threshold set with the potentiometer

Technical specifications
